1.1: A New Beginning

Hello friends! Welcome to Simmer Down 4 What! As some of you may know, I began a 10 Generations, 10 Kids Each Generation challenge in The Sims 3. The story followed the Stickly family and featured Holly Wood, created by the incredible Lynnwood. The name theme for that particular challenge was classic Nicktoons. I grew to love the Stickly family and have chosen to bring their story into the future of The Sims 4. Without further ado, let's get this party started!

This here is our brave founder, Stick Stickly!

If you're unaware of who he is, he is this awesome little popsicle stick that hosted Nick in the Afternoon back in the 90's.

And this is the Knight of the Octagon Table. As most of you know, this guy means that we are starting this legacy off right with a grand total of $1,800 to start life off. Yes, you read that right. For once I am playing a legacy challenge by the rules. No cheating them into a prebuilt house, no cheating their funds, etc. These guys are going to have to work for what they want like the rest of us! We quickly bid this gent farewell and stuffed him into the family inventory, where he will stay as a reminder of their poverty hard work.

Stick's aspiration is to have a big happy family, so I don't need much on the lot in regards to advancing his aspiration or anything like that. I chose to purchase items that would help me accommodate as many of his needs as possible on the home lot. So here you have it, Stick's humble abode.

As soon as we had him settled in, his first order of business was to look for a job. On his smart phone. That he can somehow afford even though he can't even buy, like, an actual house. Sims logic. I decided to have him enter the entertainment career with a goal to take the comedian branch.

Once the boring stuff was taken care of, I sent Stick out into the world to track down a potential spouse. His first stop was the library. Which ended up being a bust. The only female who showed up was a teenager.

Next I decided to send him to the park. He got to chatting with the girl in the purple t-shirt but I was 99% sure she was a teenager as well. Of course, it'd be easier to tell if the teenagers weren't the same height as the adults. *cough*EA*cough*. He attempted chatting up the other chick you see in this picture but she just was not having it. There was zero chemistry.

I sent Stick home to tend to some needs, and it was at that point that I realized I didn't buy a fridge OR a counter, rendering his stove useless. I ended up sending him to the bar so he could order some chips AND potentially meet his spouse. No such luck. The bar turned out to be a sausage fest. The only female who showed up was Bella Goth and we all know she's off limits. I was one irritated Watcher by the end of this day.

Mr. Stickly refused to be discourage, however, and got in a little boogie before heading home for the night.

Sleep tight on your air mattress, Stick!

Morning arrived which meant a shameless shower shot was necessary. Need to keep him fresh and clean if he wants to find Mrs. Right!

I had him start his day with some digging. I need to build up some simoleons so I can buy him a damn fridge and counter.

After work, I sent Stick to the park. And that is where he saw her. The most beautiful sim he'd ever seen.

As some of you may know, her name is Holly Wood. She's made by Lynnwood, my favorite storyteller that I've come across in the Sims community. I chose her as the spouse for this legacy in TS3 because Stick Stickly had an occasional co-host on Nick in the Afternoon named Holly B. Wood! So when bringing this story into TS4, I had no other choice. Stick & Holly 4evar. For a refresher, this is what Holly B. Wood looked like.

Stick made his way over and joined her at the picnic table. They hit it off instantly and conversation flowed smoothly.

Then they autonomously watched the clouds. CUTE.

Stick capped off the night by inviting Holly over to get to know each other a little more. He practiced some of his impressions and jokes on her, keeping her in stitches the whole evening.

And so begins the most frustrating courtship in Sims history. Stick threw out some flirts.

She happily accepted. Score, right? Wrong. Every other romantic action after that first flirt was a MAJOR bust. She was not at all receptive to his compliments, pick up lines or anymore flirts. Things got awkward and she went home. Lame.

Oh well. On the plus side, Stick had earned enough from digging and work that afternoon to buy a fridge and counter. Yay! Now he can cook in the dark outside in the middle of the night like any other normal legacy founder!

Oh. Maybe cooking in the dark isn't such a good idea. Hope you didn't completely sever your fingers, buddy...

Morning dawned and Stick refused to give up. He called Holly and invited her over. When she arrived, she was walking like this D: I don't know what happened, but she was super sad.

Stick immediately tried to cheer her up. Selfie time!

Things were progressing beautifully. They shared a friendly hug. I like to imagine Stick looking up to the sky and thanking the Watcher for bringing Holly into his life. <3

Thinking things were finally at a good place, I had him throw out a pick up line. Only for her to REJECT HIM AGAIN. Thus earning her the nickname "Hard-to-get-Holly". Once again, things got awkward and she went home. Stick went to work feeling defeated.

A new day, a new attempt at securing a spouse. Stick called Holly again, this time a little less confidence under his belt. Can't blame him after being shot down two days in a row.

Holly once again showed up right away, and I prepared myself to be shot down a third time. But lo! His first attempt at flirting was well received!

Next he threw out a compliment, which she was also receptive to. 2/2!

Pick up line was also a success - 3/3 on romantic actions! YES YES YES!!

Next up a romantic embrace and some hand holding.

Finally! First kiss in the bag. Guess all it took for Holly was to see him in his sexy heart underwear.

Holly had to get going because Stick had to get ready for work. He decided to take a cold shower. Lolol. That must have been one hot first kiss ;)

Stick finally managed to get a day off, so I sent him and Holly on a date to the park. I thought maybe a little romance at the place they first met would be the missing piece to sealing the deal and actually making some progress on this legacy. No more messing around, Stick. It's time to get serious. In case you forgot, you have 10 babies to have so...

Date spam! A few sexy poses and a rose later, Holly was officially wrapped around Stick's finger!

FINALLY. Stick and Holly FINALLY reached boyfriend and girlfriend status. He chose to celebrate with a passionate kiss!

She immediately autonomously returned the favor. I ship these two so hard.

I contemplated waiting on the proposal just to avoid the risk of the "too much, too fast" rejection. But Stick rolled a whim so I let him go for it.

And much to my relief, Holly gladly accepted!

With a few hours left before Stick had to head to work, they threw a quickie wedding at the park. Wedding spam <3

I still had a little time to kill, so I sent the two back home to get started on those babies. They were just fine with that decision.

Once they were finished, Stick headed off to work while Holly took a pregnancy test. That is the face of pride - baby #1 is officially in the oven!

And with it came horrible morning sickness. Poor thing.

When Stick returned from work that evening, I decided to put up a few walls. It's not a complete room yet, but it offers at least some privacy for this growing family.

Holly is going to be a stay at home mom. Until there are grandparents and other such things to help with the care of the babies, we're gonna need a constant set of hands around the house. So she is going to be in charge of all the household duties, including appliance and plumbing repair.

Stick and Holly enjoyed a late night dinner and she shared the big news with him. He was ecstatic!

The violent morning sickness struck constantly. I've never had a sim be as sick as Holly :( The best part was the joy of cleaning up the mess after every hurl session.

It was during this process that I noticed a plant had begun to grow out of the trash pile left over from when she repaired the sink. I hadn't yet bought a trash can so she couldn't throw it away. I did not know this, but there is, in fact, a trash plant that grows. You can grow trash fruit on it. Even though that's disgusting, I find that awesome!

The nights were pretty lonely while Stick was at work. I sent Holly around town to do some more digging and find some things to sell and help bring some funds into the household.

Along the way, she found a strawberry plant and picked a few to take home with her.

Second trimester bump!

When she returned home she decided to tend to her garbage plant.

Pregnancy was taking a lot out of poor Holly. She was out before Stick even got home.

He was wiped too when he returned from work. But as soon as he saw his wife he got all these happy/positive moodlets. Even smiled as he sleepy walked over to the bed. True love <3

Oh my god, look at that bump. Trimester 3 is here which means we are officially on baby watch!

Holly decided to surprise Stick with breakfast one morning. Seems like it's going well.

Being a legacy founding family means that money is sparse. This means no fun objects yet, so Stick and Holly are forced to resort to more natural forms of fun. They're more than ok with that fact, though ;)

Their autonomous romantic actions are so sweet!

Holly finally went into labor in the early evening hours!

She decided to pass the time by sleeping...

...while Stick ran around the house in a panic. Lolz.

The hours passed by and it was time for Holly to give birth. I have to say I LOVE that the game auto spawns a bassinet. Saves money!

Baby #1 is a....GIRL!! Allow me to introduce you to Eliza Stickly!

Eliza is named after Eliza Thornberry from the Nickelodeon cartoon The Wild Thornberrys! Holly's redhead genes prevailed in the TS3 version of this story, so I'm hoping for the same this time around!

Once Eliza was born and settled, Holly tended to some needs and went to sleep.

Stick, on the other hand, well...

Stick: I know it's a little scary living in the outdoors with only half a room of walls for shelter. But don't worry, baby girl, daddy will always keep you safe.

MY FEELS.

And that is where we will leave the Stickly family today! I hope you enjoyed the beginning of their story! Tune in next time to see the family continue to grow and find out if Holly's super genes will take over this legacy as they do every other legacy she's ever involved in. Ever.
